I started this blog because I read a lot of other money-saving blogs. I always noticed that authors would say "Buy one widget for $8, get $8 Register Reward. This makes it FREE."

In fact, it doesn't. If you already have rewards to use then I guess you could say 'free'. However, if you're new to the game or don't have $8 worth of rewards, then it actually costs $8 cash with $8 worth of store rewards to use at a later date. Store rewards can't be used at every store, they have restrictions and they do expire. Cash is none of those things. I try to help people remember that your hard-earned cash isn't Monopoly money. You'll never see me say something is "FREE" unless it really is free with no out of pocket cost to you. Smart shopping will help you save money, have more fun, worry less and have more time for the things you love.

By learning to coupon I've cut down the stores I need to shop at. In fact, I've pretty much eliminated Walmart and Target from my shopping equation. I find most everything I need at the drugstores or the grocery store at a fraction of the retail cost.
