New Giant Eagle Coupon Policy

Giant Eagle has finally released their new coupon policy. You can find it here.

The changes are what I outlined earlier (12 like coupons per person per day, 2 like printables per person per day) plus a few others. Most notable is that you can no longer stack an e-offer with a paper coupon.

Giant Eagle Updated Coupon Policy

They haven't published this anywhere yet, but I had a chat with my local Giant Eagle yesterday. Apparently as of Thursday, 10-6 the coupon policy is changing. Here are the notable updates:

1) Only 12 like coupons per day. This is the same as the current policy. However, they're apparently going to be tying this to your card somehow. If a customer tries to do multiple transactions using the same kind of coupons or attempts to go to multiple stores with the same kind of coupons the register will suspend the user's Advantage card. The user will then have to contact customer service to get this fixed. I don't know if this is an idle threat but I don't intend to find out! ;)

2) The part of the policy that I think is no good at all...they'll now be limiting internet printable coupons to 2 like coupons per person per day. This for me is the more difficult of the two changes to handle. The new GS1 barcodes have the source of the coupon embedded in the barcode which is how the register will know the difference between insert coupons and printable coupons.

I've already cut my shopping at Giant Eagle way back and I have to say that their printable coupon policy will limit my shopping there even more. Bummer. :(

Giant Eagle: Dollar Doubles Begin August 4th!

Yay! Giant Eagle is finally having $1 double coupons again. This is only good for the week of August 4th through the 10th.

Remember anything $1 or less is worth double the value. Coupons from $1.01-$2.00 are worth $2. Anything higher than that is at face value.

Currently they're accepting up to 4 identical coupons per visit.

I'll be getting some matchups together for you today.

Giant Eagle: No More Dollar Doubles

Unfortunately, folks, I have some bad news. I've heard through the grapevine from several people that Giant Eagle will no longer be participating in $1 doubles here in Toledo. So...that means no store here will be doing dollar doubles at all. Bummer. :( Since Giant Eagle is so expensive with their regular prices I'll be scratching them off my regular shopping list. I'll still go there (and post deals) when there is a great sale, but lately I'm not seeing much there. I haven't been there in ages and after sneak peek at next week's ad I'll be skipping next week too!

No $1 Doubles This Week

I had a feeling this was coming, but I just wanted to confirm it for the rest of you. Looking at the new ad online for Giant Eagle there are no $1 doubles. This is significant because in the past we've had $1 doubles the first week of the month. This has been the pattern since they stopped doubling $1 coupons all the time. The employees at the store I shop at frequently have told me this was coming so it wasn't a surprise. :(
